Vitamins for stress

Health food stores display shelves of vitamins some are Vitamins for stress others are broken down into A’s, B’s C’s D’s, E’s and K’s. Then there is shelf upon shelf of minerals such as calcium, iron, potassium, sodium and zinc.

If you are looking specifically for vitamins for stress you may be way off base in what your body truly needs.

How can anyone determine what is good, what is bad, what is needed, what you can get too much of, what your body is lacking and so on.

It would be easy to say; eat right and exercise and you won’t need any additional vitamins for your health, but it’s not that easy.

We not only have millions of food products and combinations thereof that contain a widely different amount of vitamins and minerals depending on what is in the product, but we develop food favorites that we tend to over indulge in therefore limiting our variety of intake of the many needed vitamins and minerals that we require for a balanced daily intake.

Plain and simple, there are foods that are good for us that we just may not be able to develop a taste for. Our bodies are always out of balance because of the food choices that we make.

The best place to start?

Ignore all of the vitamins on the shelves that claim to be what you need for strength, for energy, for stress reduction, for a healthy immune system etc. etc.

Because of our lifestyles and food choices, we all would benefit from a muti-vitamin once per day that contains 100 percent of the daily value for most essential vitamins and minerals. This will start you on the correct path to balancing your vitamin needs. As we age their are other vitamins that are needed to supplement what our bodies decrease in producing.

BUT... My true recommendation would be to seek the input of your family physician if you would like to see if you may need a higher dosage or single supplements of any particular vitamin since they have the knowledge and can also run blood tests that give them a true reading of what your body needs.
